![]() ![]() Tucker Ferrin (John Lasell) hands Charlie (Frank Sutton) his share of the robbery money. Two outlaws are dividing the money from a bank robbery by a campfire. Kitty comes by and the three men act strange but do not ask her about it. Back at the Marshall's office Doc, Chester and Matt talk about the possibility that it was Miss Kitty picking up the boy at the stage stop. He tells Matt and Chester that he wasn't sure if it was her but whoever it was rode off with the boy stage passenger. Marshall Matt Dillon and Chester are in the store and the proprietor Jonas asks Matt if Miss Kitty is in still in town because he thought he saw her at Willow Bend when the stage stopped. Doc is getting his horse's hoof looked at by Moss who comments on how Miss Kitty's horse and saddle are gone and he saw someone ride out at 3 AM that morning. Stone, Linda Watkins), an older couple with whom she has arranged to look after the boy. Kitty and Thad ride to a farm owned by Horace and Mattie Kelk (Harold J. As they ride off they are spotted by a passenger who is store proprietor Wilbur Jonas (Andy Albin) of Dodge City. There she picks up a young boy named Thad (Roger Mobley) and they get on her horse together. She rides out to the Willow Bend Relay Station to meet a stagecoach. Miss Kitty in pants and a shirt takes her horse out of the stables at 3 AM and is seen leaving by Moss (Dabbs Greer) who was spending the windy night in the barn because of a sick horse. It would have been nice to see Thad a few seasons later.When Kitty takes a young boy off the stagecoach one night, Matt attempts to figure out his identity. A long-running show like Gunsmoke could have brought back guests from prior years. A lack of continuity regarding characters like Thad is one of the flaws of Gunsmoke. ![]() This child that Miss Kitty loves so much is in one episode, and then he is never back again. As the episode closes, Miss Kitty takes Thad for a walk around Dodge City, and that is the last we ever see of this child that she loves so much. She would have been great paired with John Wayne in one of his many Westerns during this era. She had so much fire and energy that I wonder sometimes why she never got the chance to make movies. Miss Kitty could really act like a tigress when she had to. The last time Miss Kitty got abused, she had to kill the crazy old man in "Kitty's Killing" (season 5, episode 24). A short time later, Tucker confronts Miss Kitty, and starts beating on her to find out where his son is. Now Tucker knows where to look for Miss Kitty. The next day, Tucker Ferrin comes across his sidekick, Sutton, and gets all the information from Sutton that he got from Chester. Sutton immediately realizes that he saw her on the road, and knows where she is going. Tucker meets Chester at the Longbranch, and in a couple of minutes Chester has told Sutton everything about Miss Kitty leaving town. He is the sidekick of Tucker Ferrin, and he wants to meddle in Tucker's search for Miss Kitty. ![]() ![]() A short time later, Frank Sutton comes to town looking for Miss Kitty. When Miss Kitty heads out to the Kelk farm, Chester makes a big deal out of it. They are more than happy to provide Thad a new home and a fresh start. Stone (seven appearances on Gunsmoke) and Linda Watkins (six appearances on Gunsmoke) play the Kelks. She has made arrangements for Thad to stay with the Kelk family, at their farm. Miss Kitty wants to keep Thad a secret, because she is afraid that his father, Tucker is coming after Thad (and he is). Chester of course, loves gossip, and goes around talking to everyone about Miss Kitty. As soon as Jonas gets to Dodge, he is telling everyone that stops into his General Store about it. Jonas (Dabbs Greer) was on the same stage with Thad, so he sees Miss Kitty pick the kid up. Unfortunately for Miss Kitty, the unpleasant Mr. He does a great job of coming across like an evil, vicious killer, and a cruel abuser of women. Tucker is played by John Lasell, who only appeared on Gunsmoke this one time. The child, Thad (played by Roger Mobley), was sent to her because his mother was beaten to death by his father, a wanted outlaw named Tucker Ferrin. Miss Kitty secretly picks up the child of one of her best friends at the stage depot. ![]()
